CourseTitle: Painting and Color Theory

Course Description:

This course will introduce students to color and how it is used in art and design for impact and to evoke a range of emotions. Students will learn how to mix and create colors as well as employ basic painting techniques. Students may repeat this course in order to achieve intermediate to advanced levels of proficiency.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Students will learn:
1. How to mix dozens (or more) colors from the basic primary colors along with white and black.
2. How colors relate to one another and their similarities and differences when placed in various combinations together.
3. Basic painting and color drawing skills.
4. The effect of colors on emotions and how emotions are used to motivate someone in art and design.
